York Women’s Basketball Falls to Lehman College

JAMAICA, NY—Monique Sampson had 21 points and 17 rebounds to lead Lehman College over York College, 75-44, in a CUNYAC Women’s Basketball contest on Wednesday night.
The game was tight for the first seven minutes of the game with York trailing, 12-9, with 13 minutes to play in the first half. However, the Lightning of Lehman College began to pull away shortly after that and led 41-16 at halftime.
The Lady Cardinals improved their play in the second half, scoring 28 points to Lehmans 34. York cut what was once a 31-point lead to 19 points on a three-pointer by Samantaha Marsala (Long Island/ Longwood) with 9:00 to play. However, once again, the Lightning pulled away to put seal the win.
Delores Maeweather (Jamaica, NY/ Campus Magnet) led York with 16 points and nine rebounds. Chiquita Greene (Brooklyn, NY/ Harry Van Arsdale) finished with a double-double, scoring 12 points and pulling down 12 boards.
York falls to 4-11, 2-3 in the CUNYAC while Lehman improves to 8-7, 4-1 in the CUNYAC. The Lady Cardinals will host City Tech at 6 p.m on Friday.
