Men’s Volleyball Wins Season Opener at Yeshiva

NEW YORK, NY— The York College men’s volleyball team won its season opener, 3-1 (30-24, 30-27, 27-30, 30-23) over Yeshiva University on Sunday afternoon. Marcin Kasza (Kobluszi, Poland/ Newcomers) had 35 set assists and seven aces and Michael Song (Hollis, NY/ Beach Channel) had 16 kills to lead the Cardinals.
Along with his 35 assists, Kasza added five kills, two digs and three blocks. Stephen Vassell (Montego Bay, Jamaica/ Erasmus) finished with 10 kills and four digs, while Jeff Walcott (Hopell Hanover, Jamaica/ Seward Park) had 8 kills and a team-high nine digs for the Cardinals. Peterson Bastien (Port-au-Prince, Haiti/ Springfield) also had a big game, with eight kills and five blocks
York, 1-0, will play its season opener tonight at 6:30 against Philadelphia Biblical.
