Cardinals Downed by John Jay
NEW YORK, NY— The York College women’s swim teal fell to John Jay College 54-29 on Monday evening in their first conference match of the season. Despite the loss, freshman Ayanna Bennett (Uniondale, NY/ Hempstead) took two first place finishes to lead the Cardinals.
Bennett finished first in both the 100-free and 200-individual medley, ousting four other competitors in each race. The win marked her third consecutive meet in which she has won the 200-IM.
Also contributing for York was Maria-Amate Mathieu (New York, NY/ Manhattan) who took fist place in the 1000-free.
The Cardinals fall to 1-4, 0-1 in the CUNYAC. They will return to action on November 27 when they visit Baruch College.
