Women’s Volleyball Downed by Baruch

JAMAICA, NY—The York College women’s volleyball team fell to Baruch 3-0 (30-12, 30-16, 30-23) in a City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) match-up.
In the first two games, Baruch got out to an early lead and extended their lead throughout both games. In the third game, the Cardinals took a 5-3 lead before the Bearcats scored six unanswered points to go ahead 9-3. York would rally back to take an 11-9 lead but Baruch would responded to take a 14-13 lead. The Bearcats would not relinquish the lead and went on to win the game 30-23.
Renee Thompson (Jamaica-WI, St. Ann/ Hillcrest) had a team-high 21 digs and six kills for York. It was the fifth consecutive game that she recorded at least 20 digs in a match. Nicole Robertson (Brooklyn, NY/ Francis Lewis) added 12 digs and two aces, while Michelle Gibbs (Cambria Heights/ Law & Government Community Service) had 10 digs.
With the loss, York falls to 2-13, 1-4 in the CUNYAC. They will host Polytechnic tomorrow at 7 p.m.
