Several Runners Set Personal Bests at York Invitational

BRONX, NY—The York College cross country teams hosted the York Invitational on Sunday morning and a number of Cardinal runners ran personal best times at the home meet. The York men placed ninth with 192 points, while the women were also ninth with 262 points.
Tarik Weekes had the highest finish for York, placing fifth overall with a personal best time of 29:39 in the men's 8k race.
Kyle Gomes surpassed his best mark by more than two minutes, running the 8k in 32:49, while Christopher Peguerro ran 34:12—his best mark of the season.
Joviette Frederick was York's top finisher on the women's side, placing 42
nd overall in the 6k race, with a time of 31:31. It was her top 6k time of the year.
Johane Accime was the second York finisher to cross the line in 51
st place, with a personal-best 6k time of 32:20.
It was the Mt. St. Mary women, with an impressive 19 total points, and the SUNY Maritime men, who finished with 73 points who took home first place in the team standings. Ashley Armand (24:33) of Bronx Community College won the 6k women's race, while Luke Milano of Maritime won the men's 8k race (28:16).
York will be idle this week and will return on October 30
th for the CUNY Athletic Conference championships at Van Cortlandt Park.
