Men's and Women's Cross Country Have Best Finish of the Season at CSI Invitational

STATEN ISLAND, NY— The York College men's cross country team had its best finish of the season Sunday at the College of Staten Island Invitational, placing third overall.  Meanwhile, the women's cross country team also had its best finish of the season, placing eighth overall.
 
York had three male runners place in the top ten, led by Kyle Gomes who placed seventh overall.  Christopher Peguerro earned a ninth place finish, while Jason Shaw came in right behind him in tenth place.   Overall the men finished with 95 points, just behind West Point (79 points) and Brooklyn (86 points).  

The women were led by Joviette Frederick who placed 32nd overall in the 6k race with a time of 26:06.  Denecia Gardener was the next York runner across the line in 66th place.   The women finished with 320 points, while Queens College earned the victory with 67 points. 

York will host the York Invitational next Sunday at Van Cortlandt Park.  The women's race begins at 10 a.m., while the men's will follow at 11:00 a.m.
