York Holds 35th Annual Athletics Award Dinner

JAMAICA, NY— The York College athletics program held its 35th annual awards dinner Monday evening and handed out a number of awards to some deserving student-athletes.  #Marcel Esonwune of the men's basketball team and Kadisha Wickham# of the women's basketball team and track and field team were named the 2010 York College Athletes of the Year. 

 

The other major awards on the night were the Rookie of the Year and Sportsmanship Awards.  Thessaly Belizario of the softball team and Jaime Hay of the men's soccer team earned Rookie of the Year honors, while Alexandra Nkrumah of women's track and field and Irma Ruilova of the women's volleyball team were honored with the women's co-sportsmanship award.  Ansel Bobb of the men's soccer team was the men's sporsmanship award winner.  

 

 

Chinedu Agu and Allana Wilson won the scholar-athlete award for having the highest individual GPA. The women's tennis team was honored for having the highest collective GPA during the 2009-10 season.  The team had a combined 3.2 GPA.
