Busat Wins CUNYAC Men’s Tennis Sportsmanship Award
JAMAICA, NY – York College freshman Ayman Busat has been named the winner of the 2010 CUNY Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Sportsmanship Award. The sportsmanship award, along with the first and second-team selections, were announced by the CUNYAC office Monday afternoon.
Busat was the top player for a Cardinals squad which won the most matches for a York team since 2007. Busat played at the first singles and doubles position in every match this season and helped lead the Cardinals to a sixth seed in the CUNYAC playoffs. York fell to John Jay in the quarterfinal match-up.
“Ayman is a complete player and a complete person,” said York head tennis coach Gregory Jackson. “He is a classy guy who is always responsible and supportive.”
Konstantin Trofimovich of Staten Island was named the Player of the Year, while Yevgeny Perepelov of Hunter College earned Rookie of the Year Status. Paul Ricciardi of Staten Island was named the Coach of the Year.
