Women’s Tennis Improves to 2-0 with Win over CCNY

JAMAICA, NY – The York College women's tennis team improved to 2-0 on the season with a, hard-fought, 5-4 win over the City College of New York Saturday afternoon. The match came down to #3 singles, where junior Amba Pika edged out CCNY's Darya Vasendin 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 to give York the match.
CCNY earned victories at both first and second singles and doubles, but the Lady Cardinals squad won the bottom four singles matches and third doubles.
Ashley Willock and Jesmin Bhuyan each pulled out three-set wins at fourth and fifth singles respectively, while Taliah Cudjoe won easily over CCNY's Katherine Gomero, 6-0, 6-3 at sixth singles.
In third doubles, Nina Olladikankwu and Taliah Cudjoe cruised to an 8-3 victory.
York will host City Tech on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m.
