QUEENS, NY— The York College track and field team opened up its 2009 outdoor season at the Queensborough Relays on Saturday. The Cardinals had a strong meet, finishing first in three events.
The Cardinals three first place finishes came in the women's 4x200 relay, the men's 10k run and the women's shot put. The women's relay team was comprised up of Alexandra Nkrumah, Wendella Rankin, Allana Paul and Sheena Murray and they finished in a time of 1:50.53. Kenny Jacquet ran the 10k in a time of 35:31.27 to take first. In the shot put, Shanine Bogan's toss of 11.07 meters was more than enough to give her first place.
In the high jump, Nkrumah and Kadisha Wickham came in third and fourth place respectively with jumps of 1.37 meters and 1.32 meters.
Chinedu Agu also earned a second place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 52.02.
York will return to action this Saturday when they run at the Richard Stockton Invitational.
