York Hosts 2017 Cross Country Invitational

BRONX, N.Y.—The York College men's and women's cross country team hosted the 2017 York Invitational at Van Cortlandt Park on Sunday morning.
 
The rainy weather did not put a damper on the competition, as the men's race featured 125 runners, while the women had 97.   Sarah Lawrence College (59 points) was the winner on the women's side and Post University (60 points) got the win for the men's race. The individual winners were Humberto Wallace and Tyesha James, who each run for Kingsborough Community College.
 
Leading the York women was Alana Johnson, who placed 19th overall in the 8k race with a time of 28:54.29.  For the men, Kaylash Autar was York's top finisher, placing 42nd with a time of 34:30. 36 in the 8k race. Terell Trumpet was 47th with a time of 34:52.86. 

As a team, the York women were eighth, while the men placed tenth.
 
York will be back at it next Saturday when they run at the St. Joseph's College-LI Invitational at 12 p.m.
