BRONX, N.Y. – The York College women's and men's cross country teams competed in the CUNYAC Championships at Van Cortlandt Park this Sunday to conclude their season. The men's team placed 6th in the 8K race while the women's team placed 4th in the 6K race.
Women's Race
Camille Philbert led York with a 17th-place finish in a time of 29:50.5 and Elis Urena finished 21st in 30:00.3.
Jevonell Glenn, Alana Johnson, Akera Allen, Donne Donald and Sharrisa Pickering rounded off the top-50 York runners, with times of 31:15.2, 32:08.0, 32:46.2, 33:17.2 and 33:25.8, respectively. Jadah Tappin (36:30.3) finished 60th and Ashley Rowe (40:53.5) finished 72nd.
John Jay's Kaitlin Hicks took home 1st place, crossing the finish line at 24:58.2. However, Hunter College came in 1st place as a team.
Men's Race
Elliot Rogers led York, crossing the finish line with a time of 30:54.6. His time was fast enough for 12th place overall out of a total 84 runners, which earned him a medal.
Fabrice Pierre-Paul (34:01.3) and Travis Rivera (34:02.5) finished 31st and 32nd, respectively. Jeffrey Bejarano was not far behind, finishing 38th with a time of 35:03.4. Stephen Alexander finished in the top-50 with a time of 36:26.3.
Brian Ramsarran (36:53.9) finished in 54th place, Emeka Nnaji (38:30.6) placed 55th place and Talhah Mustafa (44:05.4) was in 73rd place.
Hunter's Walter Rodriguez captured the individual title with a time of 28:56.9, just narrowly beating CCNY's Benjamin Freeman who finished in 28:58.4. But CCNY would take home the team title ahead of Hunter.
Many of York's runners will now take a few weeks off before preparing for the indoor track and field season.
